Browser Highlighter is a simple browser extension that lets you highlight parts of a web page as if they were marking passages with a physical highlighter. The highlights only persist for the duration of the page session. Refresh the page and they disappear. cmd-z undoes the most recent highlight.
I built it because I like to highlight things while I read dense nonfiction writing. I have poor short-term memory, so highlighting premises helps me as a piece builds toward a conclusion. All of the similar extensions I found attempted to do too much and as a result felt too clunky for my use case.
Built the extension using the WXT framework.
